Review content:
After a horrific experience at Fairmount Animal Hospital, I found Dr. McKinstry. She is amazing! The place itself is a bit odd--a home turned into a vet shop, and not even remotely medical looking at all. The staff is all really friendly and actually love cats. Unlike most vets, they actually know how to handle cats (to prevent things like getting clawed). First of all, she will not try to sell you junk you don't need. She wants to know what your cat's problem is and how she can help. My cat had a gum infection that the previous vet told me would cost $5000. She suggested that we just use antibiotics for $10. We took the liquid one which he didn't like so I called up to get pills. Since I could only get it after hours, they left it in the mailbox so I could pick it up. The antibiotics ended up not working, so she did a teeth cleaning and recommended a gum gel. We started brushing his teeth and using the gel, and now he's fine. We didn't have to risk his life with an expensive surgery like the other vets suggested. She is very affordable and will always recommend the most affordable and reasonable treatment. It's pretty crowded, has weird hours, and is sometimes hard to get a hold of a human on the phone, but they are very good to their customers and are the only place I will trust with my two cats. Pros: friendly, caring staff, reasonable prices
