Review content:
My fiance' and I came to this restuarant after reading the reviews. She graduated from UM so she's been here before (although its been a few years). We've been to countless Thai restuarants, so we know what to expect from a quality Thai restuarant. We ordered the Coconut shrimp and Tom Kha Gai soup (coconut milk based soup with lemon grass) The coconut shrimp was very tasty although the shrimp were on the average size. The breading and coconut made them look bigger than they were. The Tom Kha Gai soup was very savory and had us excited about the Pad See ewe and Pad Thai we had ordered for the main dishes. When the waiter brought out the Pad See Ewe, we thought we had received someone elses order. The noodles were thin like the Pad Thais (they're supposed to be thick), the 5 pieces of broccoli was the type you get at publix (not the Chinese broccoli its supposed to come with) and the flavor was lacking. The Pad thai was average and lacked sprouts, cilantro, and lime. After that debacle, we decided to order the Thai Donuts which brought our spirits up a couple notches. All in all, I've got mixed feeling about Siam Lotus. The staff was courteous and attentive and they were even kind enough to delete the Pad see Ewweee from the bill. The only downfall were the main noodle dishes, which should be the backbone of a Thai restuarant. There are other restuarants in the neighboorhod that rival Siam Lotus' main dishes...
Pros: Appetizers and dessert are very good.
Cons: Main dishes need extensive working on.
