Review content:
I went to Chuy's last night for a friend's birthday. I will not complain about how long it took to seat us, because there were quite a few of us and we needed at least half of us there before we were seated. That is understandable. The atmosphere for the type of place Chuy's is, works just fine. It is not my style of restaurant, but I understand the theme, and it works. The staff are great, and very accommodating. They were very nice, very attentive, and definitely on top of everything. My problem is with the food itself. Being born in TX, I love Tex-Mex, Mexi-Mex, Texican, and just plain Mex. Whatever you call it, I love Mexican inspired food. I was very disappointed in the salsa. It tasted as if someone had poured and entire salt shaker into the small bowl. Thinking that this was possibly the case, I tried another bowl. It was just as bad. The fresh flavor of the produce in the salsa was ruined by what boils down to oversalting. The guacamole I had high hopes for suffered from the same problem. When my main course arrived (the chicken tacos), I have to say, the plate was beautiful. I cleared the plate and it was very good. If some of the salt had made it from the salsa to the tacos, I think the meal would have been a great one. Pros: parking, service Cons: salsa, guacamole, no reservations
