Review content:
Purchased a Kenwood kdc-x995 and had it installed. Also purchased the iPod adapter and requested my existing amp and sub be reconnected. Was initially told it would take about 6 hrs. Got a call about 5 hrs into it asking if I'd like the steering wheel mod to be installed (for an additional $150). Declined. Did not receive a call to inform that work was completed.Drove to shop around 6pm to see my car sitting in the lot apparently completed. After payment, was not given any instruction or other tutorial on the features and function of my purchase. Nor were there any detailed instructions in the box the radio came in. Later found a roll of electrical tape under my passenger seat. Further inspection uncovered a loose connector (looks like the antenna connector from the radio) tucked behind the dash ashtray. Also the entire assembly (center vents, radio/kit and heater/ac control unit) not properly secured and can be moved by hand. Finally, it appears the 5 channel JL-Audio amp I requested be reconnected is only connected to the JL sub and not the door speakers. Haven't confirmed but is sounds like it. This was a one and done for me for my car audio needs. RESPONSE FROM Sound of Tri-State: From time to time, unfortunate circumstances occur which is when we wish we had a time machine. Regardless, a situation like this should never occur and we have given the customer our deepest apologies. In this specific case, we realize our sales associate was at full fault post installation. Every time an installation is complete, the customer should be contacted. Furthermore, customers should receive detailed instruction on how to operate their unit. Upon inspection, our installer found this unit was previously loose and missing factory brackets. He then used the kit and secured the unit as best as possible given the conditions. Please keep in mind- a roll of electrical tape is black, and can easily be overlooked in a a vehicle with dark color carpeting. This is an honest, harmless mistake. We had believed to have resolved this issue with the customer and compensated for the unfortunate situation. It is our hope that the customer feels better about their experience with Sound of Tri-State.
