Review content:
Another AC company tried to rip me off for $2200. The other companies service tech spend 3 hours trying to find a leak in the system and said he couldn't find it. But, in the same breath he said my coil is rusted out and needed to be replaced on my 2 year old Carrier 3 ton unit. He also said that I needed to pay him $450 to find the ""leak"" with dyes and other methods. Obviously, if the coil is ""rusted out"" then that's where the leak likely is, so that effort would be a waste of money, the coil just needs to be replaced. I also proceeded to explain my background in construction and asked why I would want him to put dyes in my system that are notorious for causing compressors to gum up and fail. Oh, I get it, to create more business for you later maybe?
It gets better. They charged me $70 for the service call. He also quoted me that the coil on a 2 year old unit was going to cost me $1700!!!! I said thanks but no thanks and I'm going to get a second opinion. He proceeds to tell me that I should use them because no one else can do it right. I told him no again.
Here's where it gets good. I call Stan's knowing that they are a reputable group in town and they come out and verify that the unit is rusted, but that the ENTIRE thing is still under warranty through Carrier because this particular coil has been failing constantly in alot of their units. Meanwhile, he checks my other unit for problems and finds that the second coil is bad too. So, I could have ended up paying $4000 to the other company if I hadn't called Stans.
So, long story short Air Rescue tried to rip me off for $2200 and took my $70 that shouldn't have been charged because Carrier covers that. Stans is now fixing my unit free of charge to me.
John is the service tech and he's a good honest, hard working tech that knows his stuff.
Pros: Honest and good techs
Cons: Took a while to get them here...
