I definitely recommend Dr Harrington and Barton Creek Chiropractic for treating back pain and disc injuries. They were very helpful, always professional and friendly. Following are the details of my experience there:\r \r I hurt my back (the L5/L6 disc) in fall '06. The pain was terrible leaning over or sitting down, I was unable to put on my shoes due to pain. I had a terrible time sleeping comfortably, and it was moderately painful walking around. I even had to lie with my back on the floor frequently at work to ease the discomfort. This situation kept up for ~2 weeks, not getting much better.\r \r I then went to see Dr. Harrington. He immediately was able to provide moderate pain release and improve flexibility (allowing me to put on my own shoes again!) with chiropractic treatment. However, that was only the start of the improvement. I visited Dr. Harrington for treatment generally 2X/week for ~3 months (covered by my insurance, United Healthcare) and progressively improved. Treatment consisted of massage or muscle stimulation to relax the stressed out lower back muscles; chiropractic treatment (realignment to move vertebrae into proper positon and remove strain on the joint); training me on safe exercises and stretches to do at home to strengthen my back and stomach muscles; advice on pillows and sleeping position so I could start sleeping well again (that alone made a huge difference in my well-being); recommendations for physical activities (e.g., walking 10,00 steps/day); mineral supplements to rebuild the material in the disc; and proper techniques for computer use and for lifting. It is tough to say which of these program elements were the most critical longterm but certainly the overall program was effective and doable, even in a busy work-family schedule. It really helped me get back on my feet, literally.\r \r The staff were friendly, efficient and motivated to help. Scheduling was suprisingly flexible. Overall, highly recommended. Pros: Results, friendliness, scheduling ease Cons: No magic bullets (good results take time & some effort)
