Review content:
We had heard all the hype about this golf course - it had won almost every award possible but we were still sceptical. Finally made a tee time to check it out and we were blown away - it exceeded the hype!\r

Yes, there are a couple holes that some might call ""quirky"" or ""gimicky"" but the chimney on the lower level of #1 fairway doesn't come into play unless you hack one. The stones and stone walls on #12 must be played around but don't affect good shots. If you are looking for a traditional American layout with a gentle dogleg left/right and limited character - this isn't it. However, if you have played across the pond in England/Ireland/Scotland where golf began and enjoyed those courses - you'll love Fossil Trace.\r
\r
The course is mostly about risk/reward - you can drive #2 and #10 but if you don't pull off the shot, you're in for double or worse. Par 5s can be reached but miss the approach and another big #. You can play safe all day and probably score relatively well but what is the fun of that. Be as agressive as you like but if you are not accurate, bring a lot of eggs, you'll need them!\r

Greens have a ton of movement and were quick the day we played making for difficult putting. Bunkers are a beast, very deep and unforgiving although the sand is pure white and fluffy - didn't help us. The course was in great shape, best of any public course we played, rivaled my buddies country club.\r
\r
In short, we had a blast and now consider FT the place to take clients knowing we will have a great time and have tons to discuss over a cold brew on their deck. A ""must play"" when in Colorado.
Pros: Layout, Variety, Conditions, Customer Service, Character, Deck, Food and Cold Beer
Cons: Tough to get a tee time
