I had never heard of Le Pain Quotidien until last week, when I tried it for the first time. The Grilled Chicken & Smoked Mozzarella with Arugula and Basil Pesto Tartine (open faced sandwich) was so tasty, I had to go back today and have it again. The presentation and preparation was absolutely perfect both times I've had it. Every ingredient tasted very fresh and I felt like I was eating a delicious and healthy meal. I appreciated the large carafe of iced green tea delivered to my table, so I could refill my glass without having to expect the server to keep an eye on my glass for me. That's a brilliant idea that I wish more restaurants would copy. Soft orchestral music plays over the restaurant's sound system and filtered sunlight brightens the earthtone and wood interior. If you are trying to choose a lunch location between Le Pain Quotidien and Il Tramezzino (both on the same block), DEFINITELY choose Le Pain Quotidien! They may be in the same city block, but they are on opposite ends of my ""star"" scale.
Pros: Delicious, fresh food and relaxing atmosphere.
Cons: May be hard to find convenient street parking on a busy day.
