My pipes burst during the cold snap we just had (weekend of Jan 17th, 2009). I called Roto-rooter because they were rated highly on this site and they had a free estimate. They were able to come over quickly, but the guy who came only fixed half of the problem. He charged $300 to replace one 3/4"" pipe under the house which took less than an hour. \r
He then said there was an additional broken pipe that he would have to come back for and drill through the wall. He estimated it would cost at least $400-$500. I called a friend to get a better reference and found a MUCH better plumber who came out and did the job well (and even fixed the repair the Roto Rooter plumber did) for $195. \r
While very responsive, you will be overcharged and the job may not be done well. Bobby Dixon is the guy I went with later and he is fantastic in Nashville.\r
