Review content:
I was disappointed in the food and service at Tapestry, which is a bummer as I like to go to local, less popular restaurants. We decided to go to Tapestry instead of another restaurant bc it ""looked"" cute and the menu contained some interesting items. We ordered the Chef's Special which was much more expensive than the regular menu as it was supposed to comprise of ""special Chef selections."" So, the 1st course consisted of mango, chopped onion and about 1 scallop served in a martini glass. Very bland. The 2nd course was Ahi Tuna that looked and smelled like it had been sitting in the sun all day. We both took one bite and put it aside. The third course was a huge plate of muscles that I don't remember seeing on the menu & looked like they were caught in the foamy shores of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The next ""Chef's Choice"" was a flank steak, which was ok.. It reminded me of the lean cuisine I left at home. The last item was good: a small piece of Filet Mignon on top of Portobello mushrooms, however, the stinky muscle taste still lingered in my mouth so it was really difficult to enjoy. When we asked the waitress why muscles were selected as one of the ""Chef's Special"" choices, and why did the Ahi smell bad, she got very defensive and said that the restaurant was her family's business, and?I swear?she didn?t appreciate that we were complaining about the meal.. She disappeared and then re-appeared with dessert menus that she threw on the table. I asked if I could speak with a manager and after considerable delay, the ""manager-owner,"" who happened to be her father, came to our table and listened to our complaints that were presented, I believe, in a very reasonable manner, and said, ""Oh."" and walked away. If that wasn't enough, I was sick for the entire next day and can't even think about Ahi Tuna without getting nauseous. I would never consider dining at Tapestry again.
Pros: Not mainstream.
Cons: Very poor food quality, very poor service.
