Review content:
My friends and I get together for dinner every Wednesday, visiting different restaurants around town. We've been to Crazy Cajuns once before as a group, and I've been there a couple of times on my own. I realize the service s_cks. They advertise the service s_cks. They're proud of the fact that the service s_cks. Tonight, however, I understood the depth of that advertisement. The scenario: We ordered a ""bucket"" of beer before 7pm in order to get the happy hour price, or however they classify it. We ordered our food, and then our sixth showed up. Shortly after joining us, he ordered his food as well. The beer and most of the food showed up within a reasonable amount of time, no complaints there. It was a little odd, however, that one of the people serving our food was not dressed in the same shirt as the other servers...and was carrying his beer around with him. Our friend who showed up a little late was patient, realizing that he ordered well after the rest of us. Meanwhile, I take two bites out of my blackened tuna steak (a.k.a. ""the brick""), realize that it's completely over-cooked, send it back to get a new tuna steak. Again, no major complaints there. Stuff happens in the kitchen. Got it. A while goes by (long enough for me to get my new tuna steak and the rest of us to finish our meals), and our friend STILL does not have his food. He finally just lets the server know that he doesn't want the food. After all, we're all getting ready to leave at this point. Then come the checks...this is where it gets good. My wife looks at the check and realizes that we've been over-charged on the beer. Remember we ordered it? That's right, before 7pm. Apparently, our server couldn't remember that. He also made the assumption during the initial ordering that we, in fact, didn't want a bucket but, rather, wanted to order beers individually, even though I said, ""I would like to order a bucket of beer."" The real problem: In short, the owner. Another server was actually doing a fair job of trying to make amends. And I should point out that everything up to this point was being discussed very calmly. There was some confusion, but we were working through it. Then the owner caught wind of what was happening. She comes rushing out of the doors and proceeds to give us a lesson in logic, I suppose. I her overly-dramatic, I've-spent-way-too-much-of-my-life-in-bars attitude, she declares, ""I see four beers on the receipt and four beers on the table, so you need to pay your bills!"" Stunned silence. I think I can safely say everyone at our table was thinking, ""did she really just say that?"" After making a completely unnecessary scene, blaming the whole thing on ""their system"", making no attempt at making amends, threatening to call the authorities if we didn't pay our bills and mocking us while standing at another table of frequenters, I can safely say I will never go back to Crazy Cajuns. I have to admit, though, it created a memory for me and friends. Oh, and the food isn't that great. Definitely not worth the s_cky service. Pros: outdoor seating Cons: Horrible service and the fact that they're proud of it
