Review content:
I went to this shop because it was AAA certified, but that apparently means less than I thought. The clutch in my Ranger stopped working suddenly, so I had it towed in. They replaced my slave cylinder and clutch, and called me two days after I dropped it off to pick it up. The truck was completely undrivable, apparently the clutch hadn't been bled at all--with the clutch pedal on the floor, would drive forward at good speed. They gave me a loaner van and I came back the next day. There was a very, very loud exhaust noise and the heaeter no longer worked--when it's 15 degrees, I like a working heater. Took it back AGAIN and they fixed the exhaust leak--they had put the clamps on upside down--and fixed the heater, but they charged me $100 for the heater because a vacuum hose just ""happened"" to go out during the initial repair. There was a 20,000 mile warranty on the work, but after 14,000 miles the clutch started to go again. This time they told me it would be a new master cylinder, and quoted me a hugely inflated price to install a new one--$550. The only reason I even went was because I was under warranty, and they definitely weren't getting any more of my money. I had the master cylinder replaced at Monro (who always treats me well) for less than half what they quoted. A thousand miles later, my clutch is terrible again, and I'm sure it's something that Murphy's did. Various mechanics have said it acts like a pressure plate issue, but Murphy's claim it is a synchro. Only there's no possible way it could be a synchro when one of the symptoms is the truck driving forward in first with the clutch on the floor. Even though it's supposed to be under warranty, they quoted me $600 labor just to pull the transmission and diagnose the problem--and I was talking directly to the owner. Avoid Murphy's like the plague, they cost twice as much as anyone else and they do terrible work. Pros: Location? Cons: Don't honor warranties, don't fix cars properly
