Review content:
We went there for lunch and the hostess wanted to seat us at a cramped table in the back when there were empty tables in the nice middle section. We asked to be seated at one of these tables and she kept making faces and discussed it with other staff while we were left standing. Finally, after we asked her again what the problem was in seating us at a free unreserved table, she shrugged and sighed and ungraciously seated us there. It was a few minutes before someone came by to take our order for drinks. It took our server even longer to get us glasses of water.
They don't have the traditional dim sum carts, you have to order off the menu. They recommend ordering 3-4 plates per person. We were a party of 3 and ordered about 7 things to start. Steamed dumplings dominate their menu, so we ordered about 5 of those. Half an hour later, we had only been served a plate of 3 little fried shrimp and a plate of 3 chicken puffs. Other tables around us had got all their orders of steamed dumplings and we hadn't even got one small plate. When we finally caught the attention of our server, she tried to rush our orders out. When she eventually brought out our order, it was obvious it had been rushed (even after waiting for more than 30 minutes!!!) Some of the dumplings just hadn't cooked all the way through and stuck to the sheet below. It was unappetizing and we left hungry.
It also took forever to get the standard dipping sauces. Why they can't leave some on the table like other asian restaurants is beyond me. They were very stingy with their sauces too and we had to ask for more. The entire experience was beyond ridiculous.
Although some of the dishes had good flavors, the abysmal service makes Ping Pong unworthy of your time and money.
Pros: decent flavors
Cons: No dim sum carts, Terrible service, backed up kitchen
