My wife wanted to go to a restaurant that overlooked the water for her birthday. I purchased a gift certificate from WYRK seize the deal program for The Shores. I read the previous reviews, food is too pricey, place needs painted and request Sara as waitress so I thought I would update you all after my visit.
The person who stated the food is ""too pricey"" is correct! The linguine alfredo is $16.99. The sweet potato fries are $4.99. I had to the Chicken Fajita wrap which was very good and came with either fries, coleslaw or past but was $9.99 but no complaints on the amount of taste of the food from anyone in my dinner party. The building appeared to be recently painted but does need a little TLC in the porch areas. Without asking we did get seated in Sara's section and she did a great job! No complaints on the Service.
The entertainment was a Frank Sinatra impersonator but the highlight of the evening entertainment wise was when Sara got up to the mic and sang ""Black Magic"" She has an amazing voice and stage presence.
The view of the Niagara river is awesome and really the best reason to go there. After dinner we went to the bar to get a drink. The bartender seemed a little rude and put out by our needing a drink. No personality at all just said ""yeah"" instead of ""Good evening sir, what can I get for you?"" We took our drinks out to the dock area and sat and listened to the music but especially enjoyed the music between Sinatra songs.
We did return the following week since I forgot to give Sara my gift certificate so thought we would go again and use it before it expires. I ordered fajita wrap again because I knew it was good. We had a different waitress who was good but never came back to fill our waters or ask if we wanted any desert just brought the check. I did not catch her name though. There was no entertainment but we did enjoy the music coming from a speaker hanging in the tree.
Overall I do like the place. The food is pricey but is edible. The service really depends on who you get. The view is amazing and some nights they have volleyball out back if you enjoy playing or watching. I guess my advice is to give it a try and see what you think!
