Editorial review from Citysearch 7/11/2013

Terrible...Terrible Customer Service! A party of 2 used a groupon which they added 18% gratuity along with a $6.75 Service Charge. This was after waiting 45 minutes for a server to come to our table (we had to approach a waiter for service). The waitress was completely rude and when we approached the Manager, she started screaming at us. REAL CLASSY, I mean trashy PLACE ! more

It is about Time! The Shores is Looking Great 5/4/2012

Was just there tonight, had a great time. The restaurant has so much potential and there is now a lot of new improvements being done to capture the location that is on an Island in Western New York! Had the Fish Fry and my wife had the Potato Encrusted Cod, on the patio in early May. I like that the staff especially the kitchen is back again, it make the place more consistent. Keep up the good work. more

Get 'em in, get 'em out!!! 7/16/2011

The Shore's main goal is turning the tables over to get as many people in and out as possible!! The hell with good food and service! Our group was seated at a nice table on the patio, with a view of the water, so far so good. The waiter was obviously disappointed our last guest was 10 minutes late (first red flag). After she arrived, he was ready for our drink order---""ladies, how about some drinks...the stuff that makes the world a better place!"" Really?? (second flag---push the $4 drinks to wrack up the bill!) Dinner was OK, nothing special, you're definitely paying for the view of the water here. After dinner, we ordered coffee---another obvious disappointment for the waiter.....no poker face on this guy! The topper of the evening, and probably the rudest comment I've ever heard, was ""what do you say ladies, I have people waiting for this table?!"" We were too shocked to speak, although our tip spoke volumes! If you want a place that is overpriced, pushes alcohol, makes you feel rushed and insignificant, this is the place! Will NEVER go back...there are too many places in this area that outshine this dump! more

Shores Waterfront Restaurant 9/1/2010

My wife wanted to go to a restaurant that overlooked the water for her birthday. I purchased a gift certificate from WYRK seize the deal program for The Shores. I read the previous reviews, food is too pricey, place needs painted and request Sara as waitress so I thought I would update you all after my visit. The person who stated the food is ""too pricey"" is correct! The linguine alfredo is $16.99. The sweet potato fries are $4.99. I had to the Chicken Fajita wrap which was very good and came with either fries, coleslaw or past but was $9.99 but no complaints on the amount of taste of the food from anyone in my dinner party. The building appeared to be recently painted but does need a little TLC in the porch areas. Without asking we did get seated in Sara's section and she did a great job! No complaints on the Service. The entertainment was a Frank Sinatra impersonator but the highlight of the evening entertainment wise was when Sara got up to the mic and sang ""Black Magic"" She has an amazing voice and stage presence. The view of the Niagara river is awesome and really the best reason to go there. After dinner we went to the bar to get a drink. The bartender seemed a little rude and put out by our needing a drink. No personality at all just said ""yeah"" instead of ""Good evening sir, what can I get for you?"" We took our drinks out to the dock area and sat and listened to the music but especially enjoyed the music between Sinatra songs. We did return the following week since I forgot to give Sara my gift certificate so thought we would go again and use it before it expires. I ordered fajita wrap again because I knew it was good. We had a different waitress who was good but never came back to fill our waters or ask if we wanted any desert just brought the check. I did not catch her name though. There was no entertainment but we did enjoy the music coming from a speaker hanging in the tree. Overall I do like the place. The food is pricey but is edible. The service really depends on who you get. The view is amazing and some nights they have volleyball out back if you enjoy playing or watching. I guess my advice is to give it a try and see what you think! more

AWESOME Owners and Destination 6/27/2010

First time there and service was great. Ask for Sara, she WILL take care of you.. Nothing bad to say at all, BEAUTIFUL atmosphere, music, and setting.. Would recommend to anyone. You MUST try the sweet potato wedges with honey butter.. AWESOME!!!!!! You won't regret stopping in.. Pros: GREAT food and service Cons: Can't get enough more

Panaramic View of the Niagara River 8/15/2009

Great summertime place - outdoor patio. Good lunch (Salmon patties aren't all breading like some places) Good fish fry - a little higher price than some Buffalo bars. Boat harbor there lends to outdoor summer atmosphere. Dance ""floor"" leaves something to be desired. Crowd changes with the bands that are featured. Too bad our summer is so short! This is on Tonawanda Island and you think you're in the wrong place when approaching it through a small business district - but pleasantly surprised upon finding a hidden gem vista. Pick a night your kind of music is playing and you will have a nice dinner and entertainment! Pros: Glassed-in dining room, outdoor eating, bands, good food Cons: A littlie pricey for the lack of decor (outdated) more

Great Waterfron View 7/30/2009

Go there often. Could be cleaned up a bit, but excellent location on a sunny summer day and good enough food. Always good service and some great music. Recomended. more

hard to find, and when you do it;s the Twilight Zone 9/8/2008

Had gift certificates so we went there 4 times over the summer. The sunsets are beautiful and place is relaxed. Food is overpriced and the place could use a coat of paint, the chairs need to be cleaned and they could use new table cloths. First trip food was good.... chicken ceasar salad and steak sandwich. Second time both had kentucky bourbon chicken... was supposed to have bbq sauce, peppers & onions. When we asked where the peppers and onions were the waitress checked and came back with a bowl of peppers and onions saying they were just putting less on and when we stated there were none she pointed to my plate and said there was one piece of pepper on it. Third time had an italian sandwich which was to have sausage, cappocola and cheese. Bit into it and all I had was cappo, had the waitress check and she came back and told me they ran out so doubled up on capo. Not what I wanted so I had her get me a steak sandwich and when she returned told me she took the other sandwich off the bill?? What?? Sandwich wasn't as good as the first. Fourth time I had the chicken again which was prepared totally different then the first time. Ate it as it was good but assumed I was in the Twilight Zone. Got out and I'm not going back Pros: beautiful sunsets, relaxed atmosphere Cons: never know what you will get more

My favorite restaurant, Never knew it was a Nightclub too. Best live bands and music in town ! 4/30/2008

Amazing outdoor patio, overlooks niagara the river. I was their 4/25/08 and it was packed - we had a great time ! The Band playing was black widow, they were very good . fun party atmosphere THE BEST CHICKEN WINGS EVER. My friend had one of the daily specials - some Tomato pepper alfrado dish, it was SOO good. My family has a boat slip at the marina also (same ownership) and they love it their. Would recomend to anyone. more

Was there for a funeral brunch, was also there for a graduation party last year. 4/24/2008

Very good food, not normal banquet food. Niagara river view is the best waterfront location I have ever seen in Buffalo, Niagara falls, Amherst and Tonawanda. We were able to take great family photos with the waterfront behind us. The prices compared to other banquet facilities are much less and they offer much more. Pros: Waterfront jewel in WNY Cons: Closed in the winter more

Best waterfront rest. in buffalo. 4/13/2008

I dont know what these ladies are talking about any time I have been to the shores it has been nothing but great. I have been going there for years and the chef is great and the staff is friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere is outstanding and the sunsets are the best in the area. I went there last week for there grand opening on Friday the 4th of april and had a fabulous fish dish . It is called potato encrusted cod. Any one who is looking for a great place on the water in Buffalo I would recommend the shores. Pros: Right on the waterfront and great food. Cons: They dont make reservations for outside on weekends so just make sure you get there early and there is no problem more

Do not go there if you are hungry!! 6/18/2007

I had the worst experience at The Shores on 6/16/07, Saturday. My friend and I arrived there at 8:00pm and gave our names for a table, because I heard their food is good. Well 9:00pm comes around and still no table, finally at 10:30 we sat ourselves down and asked for the manager, this 25 year old comes to our table and I explained to him about the service and his reply was "" what do you want me to do?"" I became more furious, so he said he would give us 15% off. That was an insult to injury. The service there is the worst, food is too pricey for what you get, it's dirty and falling apart. I would think twice about going there to eat. The music is good, but that's it. Pros: music Cons: service, food and environment more

best kept secret 2/11/2003

i think the shores is a unique waterfront restaurant that offers not only good food and great entertainment, but a spectacular view of the niagara river. I enjoyed the lobster surf and turf and wife raved about the apple crisp dessert for weeks. After dinner we had a couple drinks in the lounge were the smooth as silk band was playing. Our waitress went on stage and performed a Patsy Cline tune that really set the mood..one of the more unique dining experiences! Pros: Great View, Exeptional Service, Greaqt Value Cons: Hidden Treasure, Difficult to find more
