Review content:
I am a bridesmaid in a wedding coming up in September. I ordered my dress over the phone (with a credit card) because I am from the Boston area, and could in to the store, and it was without incident. I was informed that the dress was in and had to be picked up within 30 days. So I made plans to pack up my two small children, which I then had to arrange for child care for, drive 2 hours, then make my way over to ?Bridal Corner? to pick up my dress. I am not complaining about any of this, for this is just my life with two kids, and I am happy to do it, but as any mother knows, it requires some planning. I get to the ?Bridal Corner?, try on my beautiful blue satin dress, and decide to pick up because it needed to be altered and I heard that alterations there were very pricey. I get it, everybody needs to make a living, but I am not going to pay through the nose when I can go elsewhere and have it done at a lower price. So the owner and I are chatting as I pull out a checkbook to pay, and she tells me that she will not accept a check. I get that, with all the returned check fees and all. Okay, so I pull out the plastic. She then informs me that she will take only cash for this transaction. I tell her that I do not have any cash, and she tells me that I will have to go to the bank to withdraw some to be able to get my dress. I calmly take a deep breath and ask her why. She explains that she gets charged a fee for every credit card she runs, and it is too EXPENSIVE for her to take them. She then asks what bank I have, and tells me again to go get cash. Mind you, I am from Boston and my bank did not have a location in the Chicopee area, so she offered up directions to other banks. In other words, she wanted ME to pay a fee, so she would not have too. I left the store very upset, and without my dress. I am really looking forward to going back outside of my 30 days (I am not from the area), to see what kind of fee that they come up with for holding it outside of my allotted time. In short, this establishment needs to make its way out of the dark ages, and start accepting the plastic. Everyone else does. Hell even cabs and smart phones do.
