Review content:
I had a dress dry cleaned yesterday, because my regular cleaner does not offer same day service. When I brought the dress in I was told that the 2 hour service would be 4 hours minimum. I got ?sticker shock? because I was charged $21 for a very simple dress, when my regular dry cleaner only charges $12 for the same dress. I had to ask twice about prices. They don't ask for money up front, so you get the sticker shock after the work is done. Be careful of any place that does not tell you costs up front. I thought about leaving immediately, but then I thought the more expensive price must mean better work and I really needed the same day service. I should have read some reviews online before going. I showed the problem of the dress to the woman accepting it, so there would be no misunderstanding about what needed to be done. The dress had been hanging in my closet and there were some dust stains at the hem, where it had been peeking out of the garment bag. There were also several very small spots (1/2 inch) of food stains, from a clumsy waiter at a restaurant. This is nothing that any dry cleaner cannot handle, I have had wool jackets dry cleaned to perfection from having dust stains on the shoulders. I was shocked that the dress that I picked up looked exactly like the dress that I had turned in. All of the dust stains were there, except perhaps they were a little lighter than before, a little less visible. I was also shocked, that every single one of the little spots that I had pointed out were still there, not one was missing. So, I can only assume the ?spot removal? service is a joke, even when you point out the spots to the employees, they still don?t remove them. So, for $21 Milt & Edie?s did nothing for me. I was not able to wear the dress and I had to scramble at the very last minute to find something else to wear, when I lifted the plastic and found that nothing had been cleaned. In short Milt & Edie?s is a lot of promises and nothing delivered. People should not be paying more, when the work done is a lot worse, which in my case was literally nothing. For a minute I thought perhaps the dress had not been dry cleaned at all. The only reason I can be sure that they did dry clean it because, the stains looked lighter than before. If it were up to their service, I would have to throw the dress away right now, because it is unwearable. The website looks great, but the service is terrible, certainly much worse than my regular dry cleaner who does not even do any work on site. I contacted the management at Milt & Edie's and they did not respond at all to my complaint. That's another promise not fulfilled. I should have received a full refund for this terrible service, so I could take it to my regular dry cleaner who is at least honest with me about what she can and can't do. Also, I was a new customer and I did not even get a ?gift bag.? I point this out, because this is an example of just another thing that was promised and not delivered. It is too bad, because the hours were very convenient for emergencies and the services promised on the website are amazing. I mistakenly thought that the additional expense would be worth it for a better range of services. I can safely say the so called ?10 point promise? for every garment on their website is just advertising. If you ever read their website, it almost comical to think about what they promise and what they deliver. Also, going into their store, there were no customers, no popcorn etc., just 2 people standing around directing non existing traffic to the receiving desk.
