I have been lied to by the housing authority and discriminated against and put to the back of the waiting list that i have been on for the last two years because i dont have a disability to get thier assistance for section 8, I was told when i signed up to get on thier waiting list i did not need to be disabled but have to meet the income requirements to qualify for the progam and i do meet the income requirements and every thing looked promising up until late August after being called into the intake meeting when my name got to the top of the waiting list and two days later i was notified by my worker that i must be disabled to get section 8 and if not my name gets put back at the very begining of the list because they are only taking disabled and familys first and moving those people ahead of me even after they got on the waiting list after me.As i was told earlie on the list is first come first serve and they are not doing that and that is unfair to myself and other low income singal persons and couples that meet the requirements for section 8 housing assistance and that i feel is discrimination towards me and other low income nondisabled persons that need the rent assistance. Nothing i can really do about thier policy because they are legally protected by the state and can get away with anything they want. They are a waste of time and a paint to deal with so do even bother with them. They make me sick to my stomach.
