I called the company that installed my system to checkout why the a/c was only running on high speed, not 2 after getting a diagnosis from someone else. I guess they are now part of Will Fixit. They told me that if it was under warranty I wouldn't have to pay anything for labor or parts and nothing about a diagnostic fee. It was under warranty for parts but not labor. No mention of that. Guy came out that day, was pretty short and and didn't seem to want to talk to me about my concerns (I am out of town and was on the phone with him) He gave me a different diagnosis, and told me he would call the next day with the cost estimate. It needed a part that would cost $700 which I wouldn't have to pay, abd would take a couple of hours to install, but the labor would be $450 They estimate the cost by marking up the part and dividing by half and thats what it costs for labor OMG! At $75 an hour for labor with more ethical repair people that was more than double what it should have cost. In addition to the diagnostic fee of $70 he was trying to tell me I owed another $75 for him going to pick up the part before he called to give me the estimate. I told him thanks but no thanks, and while I don't even think I should pay the diagnostic fee since I was not given that information, I was willing to do that, but I would not even consider paying for picking up a part he wasn't authorized to put in yet. I called my regular mom and pop shop guy and he'll do it for $150, a couple of hours labor.
Update: I spoke to the guy I had out there before Will fixit tech came out; he told me the part that will fixit said I needed had just been replaced last week when they came out. So it was NOT diagnosed properly after all. I am now waiting for my third diagnosis!
Pros: diagnosed problem correctly (I think?)
Cons: High labor cost ,not by the hour
