I took my dog in for routine procedures and a checkup before hunting season -- teeth cleaning, shots, and wart removal. I dropped her off and went to work. The only communication I got from the vet office was a call, ""Those aren't warts. Do you want them sent in to make sure they aren't malignant?"" When I picked her up, my bill was $700 and her leg was grotesque -- a 6"" incision to remove a 1"" growth, and cuts all over her leg to ""allow the skin to stretch better"", AND she has to wear a cone collar for two weeks. The aid told me to bring my dog back in a couple days so the wraps could be changed -- NO DOCTORS were at the clinic (Saturday), which was unfortunate because her foot swelled up the size of a tennis ball from the poor circulation caused by the wrap. We cut the bandages off, ourselves, to relieve the pressure. I took my dog in first thing this morning (Monday) for a followup. The vet charges an additional $17 every time I bring her in -- even if it's just to look at her! My dog is an energetic hunting dog and I've been to the vet dozens of times -- followups were always included in the original price. When I expressed my concern to the aid about the excessive skin removed along with the growth she responded, ""Having the sample sent in was an elected procedure. Nobody forced you to do it. If you had questions about what it involved, you should've asked."" Wrong answer. Even if the vet knew what he was doing, he should've called me -- he should've explained the difference between a routine wart removal and a major cancer removal technique (price and procedure). My dog lives for hunting season (starting November 3), and I'm not sure she'll be healed enough to go. He said, ""She'll probably be just fine -- it's not like she's going to be bumping into anything."" Hunting? That's all hunting is -- tearing through brush, reeds, and rushes! My experience with this animal clinic was terrible, and I'm never going back. Pros: Good weekday office hours, clean facility Cons: TERRIBLE communication, $17 followup charges, no vets in on Saturdays
