We switched to Alley Cat for our trash service about 7 months ago. We switched because their cost was so much lower. But, they have raised their cost and added a fuel surcharge in that time. The cost (unless you are over 60 years old and qualify for the senior rate) is the same as Harford Sanitation now. What has bothered me the most is that since we switched to Alley Cat, we've gotten a letter each quarter chastising us. In one form letter, we were informed that if we called to complain about our service then our trash service would be cancelled. One of the letters smelled badly of cigarette smoke, which I thought was unprofessional. The actual trash service has been uneven. They grew too fast so some days our trash and recycling hasn't been picked up until the end of the following day. The letters are what have bothered my neighbors and I the most. They don't say ""Thank you for being our customers"" or ""We're glad to have your business"". Instead, they chastise and stipulate exactly how we need to put our trash out and make a lot of demands. I would definitely recommend choosing another trash service.
