Review content:
After speaking to their Customer Service Dept on two occasions and providing them with all the characteristics of what was wrong with my Sony XBR - she told me that the problem could be one of three boards and that an on-site visit was necessary to determine the actual problem. After finally agreeing to the $90 on-site visit, the technician arrived two days later and told me the problem without even taking apart the TV. He turned the TV on and saw the same characteristics that I had told their Cust Service Rep and said that your TV needs a new Dboard. He then called their office, got a quote for roughly $500, wrote up the estimate and was gone in less than 15 minutes. Here's a perfect example of a company looking to nickel and dime prospective customers by hitting them up for a $90 consultation and not providing great customer service over the phone and just telling me it's probably the Dboard and the cost is X. After speaking to their technician, he said the Dboard going after 5-6 years is not uncommon. I asked him about the ""3 boards that could pose this problem"" and he didn't know what I was talking about. He said the Dboard is the board responsible for powering up the TV.
