I switched to this clinic because of the cost of caring for my 3 pets. They seemed to have good inexpensive care however, after my first visit I found that the doctor , Sandra Grant., has absolutely no people skills although I will say I think she is very knowledgeable and good with animals. Saying this though, the doc needs to understand that it is the owners that pay the bills, not the pets, so if she wants to keep good paying clients, she should brush up on her customer etiquette. An example of her bad customer service: if she really doesn't like you, she will have one of her staff come and take your pet out of the exam room (which is a huge no no for me right off the bat) so she can exam it in the back and has to spend as little time with you, the paying poriton of the customer, as possible. When she does come into the exam room it's always with an aire of you are taking up too much of her time. She might explain everything to you if you ask enough questions although it will all be in medical terminology that you have to have an MVD degree to understand. If you ask her to explain what she just said in a language you can understand she will roll her eyes, act like you're an idiot, and give you the coldest comentary like she is speaking below herself. Speak in laymans terms doc. Most people don't understand medical terminology. Also, don't question her diagnosis or tell her what you think about this particular ailment because she is the ""expert"" and she really does not want to hear what you have to say, period, even though you know your pet inside and out. I also was charged for an office visit that was the staffs fault for booking an appointment that could not be completed because my pet had eaten and needed to be sedated for the procedure but no one asked me if she had eaten. Totally unacceptable! Side Note: when I took my dog to Banfield for the same procedure the next day, they didn't have to sedate her and I got three times the x-rays for half the price. One ofther thing. I had recommended this vet to a friend who needed to get her dogs teeth cleaned and this vet was running a special for that particular month. Well, my friend did not have good things to say about the staff. She dropped her dog off in the morning and told the staff that she would not be able to PU the dog until right before closing because she worked in Durham and could not get off work early. When she arrived at 5:50, there was another customer in front of her that was checking out so she patiently waited her turn. When she got to the counter to pay, the vet assist. was rude and made a comment about how late my friend was in picking up her pet. Just one more example of bad customer service. Needless to say, my friend will not be back to Lake Wheel Vet Hospital and she always makes a comment to me like ""You're still going to that rude vet?"" when I would mention to her that I had to take one of my pets to the doctor. If your pet can drive and take itself to the vet and then pay for it, I would send them to this doc however, if you, as the owner and paying customer must interact with this doctor and staff, I recommend you find somewhere else where you're welcome and you and your pet get good medical AND customer service, I did! Last but not least, if you're an existing customer and want your records sent to another vet, be prepared to spend $25 if your pets chart is over 5 pages long. I guess they have so many people leaving their clinic that they have to make money somehow. I told them which 5 pages to send and kept it right at 5 pages. Unbelieveably bad customer service!!!!
