Review content:
Last year our 1 year old dog Diego ran out into the road at 9:30pm at night and was hit by a car that didn't bother to stop and continued to speed away leaving Diego to lay there in the middle of the street. We quickly put him in the car and drove him to the closest Animal Doctor we could find. They stabilized him immediately but were more concerned with closing for the night and making sure they got $500 from me before they sent us away to find another Vet that would keep him overnight. They recommended another clinic close by and seeing what bad shape Diego was in we drove over right away hoping that he wouldn't die in our backseat. When we brought Diego in they put him in a room but wouldn't touch him until we paid $1000.00 and signed all this paperwork saying that if he dies it?s not their fault. (Just what you want to look over in a hurry while your dog is fighting for his life alone in the other room.) So I signed it, paid it, and hurried them into focusing back on the reason I was there...my dying dog. The next day they informed us that if we wanted them to keep an eye on Diego any further we would have to fork over some more $....and it wasn't so much the money that bothered me as I know that?s how they make a living, it was the way they would have turned our dying dog away the night before if we didn?t have $1000 and how they seemed to be throwing us out now unless we put some more quarters in the machine. So I remembered a Vet my friend had raved about...Dr. Jody Downhill! Her clinic was a little bit further away but I just couldn't deal with anymore so-called animal loving doctors who really don't care about animals so I brought Diego to Dr. Downhill and as soon as we walked through the door she brought him right into his own room and tended to all of his wounds as if nothing else mattered in the world. She assured us that everything was going to be alright and took x-rays to see if he had broken any bones. She said he didn?t have any broken bones but that he may have some nerve damage. Sure enough he wasn't able to walk on his front right foot anymore. She asked us to leave Diego there so she could monitor him for the weekend and after we left she called us later that day to tell us he was doing better. She continued to give us daily updates on Diego letting us know each time that he was getting better and better. When we came back to pick him up he looked happy and back to life again. She informed us that he has nerve damage in his front right leg and that he may not walk on it again, but then re-assured us that miracles are possible and she would like to see him again the following week because she had an idea. We came back the following week and she had made (invented herself) a brace put together from plastic parts of something and custom fit it to Diego?s leg and foot. She did some physical therapy on his muscles and called regularly to see how he was doing. One morning we woke up and Diego was standing up on all fours putting obvious weight on his dead leg. We thought it was a miracle then but only after a few more visits to Fallbrook Veterinary Clinic did we realize that Dr. Downhill was in fact our miracle. She spent so much time and positive energy on getting Diego to walk again he eventually started walking without the brace and then eventually running! Diego might have been doomed from the start if we hadn't found Dr. Downhill but now he's Alive and Well and Running on all 4's again! We like to go back to visit Dr. Downhill every once in a while and each time she welcomes us with open arms. Thank you from our whole family to Dr. Downhill and the talented technicians in her office who I'm convinced through their love and caring saved our dog's life and not only that, they made it their mission to get Diego to walk again. True professionals with big hearts. Thank You Fallbrook Veterinary Clinic!
Pros: Professional, Immediate service, Caring, Thoughtful & Kind
Cons: It's too bad that every vet isn't as caring as Dr Downhill.
