It has been a couple years since we used this vet but I happened to be in here for the first time and saw her name. We had a very unpleasant experience. If you love your pets do not bring them here. She is the rudest, most unprofessional person we ever encountered. We have a much better vet now at Alvarado. \r more

SAVED MY BEST FRIEND!!!! 5/10/2012

Our dog had a nearly fatal problem that he hid from us until a few weeks ago on the weekend. The vet came in on the weekend to save his life. She could have pawned us off on an emergency room, but we have always been treated as family by both the doctor and her staff. After life saving surgery and a few days in post op care, Max came home to us. The sincere kindness demonstrated by the entire staff helped our boy to heal. Despite the general dislike my dogs have had of going to the vet (usually for shots) Max is happy to go in and see everyone for his post op check ups. I have been a client since the 1980s, the Dr Thomas days, and now with Dr. Jody. I have always felt secure and well cared for. I cannot say enough good things. more

Thank you for saving our Dog's Life...and Limb! 10/30/2009

Last year our 1 year old dog Diego ran out into the road at 9:30pm at night and was hit by a car that didn't bother to stop and continued to speed away leaving Diego to lay there in the middle of the street. We quickly put him in the car and drove him to the closest Animal Doctor we could find. They stabilized him immediately but were more concerned with closing for the night and making sure they got $500 from me before they sent us away to find another Vet that would keep him overnight. They recommended another clinic close by and seeing what bad shape Diego was in we drove over right away hoping that he wouldn't die in our backseat. When we brought Diego in they put him in a room but wouldn't touch him until we paid $1000.00 and signed all this paperwork saying that if he dies it?s not their fault. (Just what you want to look over in a hurry while your dog is fighting for his life alone in the other room.) So I signed it, paid it, and hurried them into focusing back on the reason I was there...my dying dog. The next day they informed us that if we wanted them to keep an eye on Diego any further we would have to fork over some more $....and it wasn't so much the money that bothered me as I know that?s how they make a living, it was the way they would have turned our dying dog away the night before if we didn?t have $1000 and how they seemed to be throwing us out now unless we put some more quarters in the machine. So I remembered a Vet my friend had raved about...Dr. Jody Downhill! Her clinic was a little bit further away but I just couldn't deal with anymore so-called animal loving doctors who really don't care about animals so I brought Diego to Dr. Downhill and as soon as we walked through the door she brought him right into his own room and tended to all of his wounds as if nothing else mattered in the world. She assured us that everything was going to be alright and took x-rays to see if he had broken any bones. She said he didn?t have any broken bones but that he may have some nerve damage. Sure enough he wasn't able to walk on his front right foot anymore. She asked us to leave Diego there so she could monitor him for the weekend and after we left she called us later that day to tell us he was doing better. She continued to give us daily updates on Diego letting us know each time that he was getting better and better. When we came back to pick him up he looked happy and back to life again. She informed us that he has nerve damage in his front right leg and that he may not walk on it again, but then re-assured us that miracles are possible and she would like to see him again the following week because she had an idea. We came back the following week and she had made (invented herself) a brace put together from plastic parts of something and custom fit it to Diego?s leg and foot. She did some physical therapy on his muscles and called regularly to see how he was doing. One morning we woke up and Diego was standing up on all fours putting obvious weight on his dead leg. We thought it was a miracle then but only after a few more visits to Fallbrook Veterinary Clinic did we realize that Dr. Downhill was in fact our miracle. She spent so much time and positive energy on getting Diego to walk again he eventually started walking without the brace and then eventually running! Diego might have been doomed from the start if we hadn't found Dr. Downhill but now he's Alive and Well and Running on all 4's again! We like to go back to visit Dr. Downhill every once in a while and each time she welcomes us with open arms. Thank you from our whole family to Dr. Downhill and the talented technicians in her office who I'm convinced through their love and caring saved our dog's life and not only that, they made it their mission to get Diego to walk again. True professionals with big hearts. Thank You Fallbrook Veterinary Clinic! Pros: Professional, Immediate service, Caring, Thoughtful & Kind Cons: It's too bad that every vet isn't as caring as Dr Downhill. more

Caring, Compassionate Neighborhood Vet 8/6/2009

I have taken my pets to Dr. Jody Downhill for over 7 years. Her compassion and ""bedside"" manner for my pets is a welcome relief from many of the other ""Pet Clinics"" in the area. Dr. Jody gives my pets real one-on-one attention, she knows them by name when we walk into the office and is always interested in their physical and mental well-being. Dr. Jody worked through two instances with us of very sick dogs who were older in life. She prepared us mentally for their passing, annd was so wonderful in helping all of us have a respectful, peaceful passing for our loved ones. I would recommned Dr. Jody to ANYONE who is looking for a wonderful, personable neighborhood-vet...she is wonderful. Pros: Personal service to you and your pets more

Worst Veterinary Clinic in Woodland Hills, Ca 12/8/2008

Update November 11, 2009. It has been two years now since I wrote my review detailing Dr. Downhill's negligence and incompetence. Since I'm standing on the truth that my very sick dog was subjected to medical treatments based on vodoo medicine diagnosis. The strategy to mitigate this review seems to be to get happy patients to write their own positive reviews, rather Dr. Downhill arguing otherwise. I'm writing this review in memory of my dog Toby. Read and draw your own conclusion of the Fallbrook Veterinary Clinic & Dr. Jody Downhill in Woodland Hills, Ca. At the beginning of 2008, Toby begun to suffer from a # of illnesses including Cushings disease. Within two months my poor little dog begun to hemorrhage profusely from the nose. Dr. Downhill indicated that the bleeding could be caused by either a cancerous tumor in the nose or an abscessed tooth and the only way to find out was to conduct ""testing"" at Dr. Downhill's office. When I came in the afternoon to pick up my dog I was informed that the ""testing"" indicated that the cause of the nasal bleeding was indeed due to abscesses on both canines, which she REMOVED and handed to me in a plastic bag as ""souvenirs"" along with an invoice for over $550. I could not imagine the pain and suffering that my dog went through to have both canines removed on the same day, but I felt relieved that it was not a tumor. Within two days Toby begun to hemorrhage again from the nose and I knew at that very moment that my dog was not cured. I took him to another clinic where it was explained to me in detail that the ONLY way to find out if my dog had a tumor was to run a $1,200 CAT scan at a specialized state-of-the-art testing facility. I was also informed that the records showed that Dr. Downhill had failed to run testing on whether the amount of medication she had prescribed for the Cushings was the correct dosage. After spending $3,000 in treatments & CAT scan Toby was diagnosed with a malignant tumor and within less than a month, on the day it spread to his eye I had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep. I accept the reality that Toby had a fatal disease. I also believe that there's no way that Dr. Downhill could have ever conducted ""testing"" for cancer tumors in her facilities as she claimed and that pulling the canines from a sick little dog to run up a bill was an act of inhumane cruelty. Pros: There are no pros when I believe my dog was sacrificed in th more
