Ever since my son was 2 I told him about preschool and how much fun it would be to be with other kids and learn. I got him all excited and told him when he turns 3 he would be able to go to preschool with other boys and girls. The time came and my son turned 3. I visited a few schools in my area and found Kaye Kare and decided to bring him with me to make sure he?s comfortable. He got all excited and finally decided to enroll my son at Kaye Kare. I walked him inside and he sat down right away and waved goodbye to me. When I picked him up that first day, he cried as soon as he saw our car. I was told that was normal and thought it really was. During the first week, my mom, my dad and I saw how Ms. Jo talked, yelled and screamed at preschool kids! I?m talking about 2-4 year old children. She did would have her arms crossed to her chest while standing while yelling and giving instructions to these poor kids, in front of other kids, parents and co-teachers. She was not interacting with the kids as the other teachers. I was told she had 20 years of experience and since I?m not a teacher I thought this was OK but I had my guts telling me already it wasn?t. For 3 weeks that my child was there my son will cry every morning begging me not to bring him to school and will cry every time we pick him up. He normally tells me everything he did for the day but these dreadful 3 weeks he was just sad and quiet all the time. I thought this was unusual as my son is usually playful and happy and loves to talk. He never told me why he doesn?t not like school but he would just tell me ?I don?t like school mommy.? This broke my heart. Ms. Jo should NOT be teaching preschool kids. Her ways and mannerisms were very unfriendly. I thought with these kids you should be encouraging them to go to school using positive motivation and I can see why my son and all the other kids were afraid of her. I became concerned that Ms. Jo was ruining my child?s first experience with school. I tried talking to someone at the school but the owner was on vacation and so I had asked Ms. Jo to put him in another class, I was so surprised on what she had said to my mom! She said ?it doesn?t matter which teacher handles him, if he doesn?t like he wouldn?t?, what kind of response was that? I had already paid for 1 week and I didn?t care if that was a Tuesday, I pulled him out of that school immediately. I talked to someone about this but they didn?t seem too concerned, the other director told me ?you gotta do what you gotta do?, I found this disturbing and unsettling. I eventually found a new preschool and visited with the teachers. We had to tell him he is going to a ?play house? and not a ?school? because he is traumatized with this word and associates it with mean teachers. He already loves his new preschool and his new teacher on his 3rd day! I am extremely appreciative of the teachers he has now. They all seem to really enjoy teaching the kids. As for Kaye Kare, I am shocked and appalled at the lack of care they have for these children by employing Ms. Jo. Preschool is the foundation of their education and their first experience of what school will be like. It is this experience that will shape their mentality of school for the next 13 years. I urge anyone that is considering to enroll their child to look elsewhere. The blame does not solely rely on the teacher, Ms. Jo but rather the whole facility as no one seemed to care about anything other than getting their payment for the week. If you want your child to learn and blossom socially and educationally you should definitely look at any other school other than Kaye Kare. I don?t do reviews normally but as a concerned parent I wouldn?t want anybody else to experience what me and child had.
