O.k., I just happened to be looking 6/7/2012

O.k., I just happened to be looking around online and found the below reviews. I currently have a child that attends kaye kare and i have to say that i completely understand babyz0z0's position. My child has been attending for 2.5 years and amazingly avoided ms. jo's class except during afternoons. My child feels comfortable here and has many friends and is not a trouble maker or a 'rough' kid in any way, which i think benefits to my child's positive outlook to the place. However, on numerous occasions, during pick-up, both my spouse and myself have witnessed ms. jo yelling at the kids and putting kids in time out, etc. It got to the point that the kids were designated as 'bad' kids and then i think those kids believed it and acted the part. so far we are lucky that our child seems to have avoided this yelling directly (we think). Kaye Kare is a nice place as a temporary stop, and we are just glad that we will be going to kindergarten elsewhere very soon. While i know my child enjoys pre-school, i just know that my child will flourish in kindergarten elsewhere. My child has learned quite a bit regarding reading, math, etc. And that seems to be the saving grace right now. My child just said something strange ""Ms. jo yells a lot when everyone is being bad and she sees it."" Then I ask ""Are you being bad?"" and then he says ""No, and she isn't there anymore"". Maybe she is on vacation. hmmm. more

Comment to babyz0z0: 5/23/2011

Kaye Kare Child Care Center takes all comments and reviews very seriously. We find that we must respectfully disagree with a review by babyz0z0. The matters raised in the review were fully investigated not only by our school's management, it was also separately investigated by The Commonwealth of Virginia. The Commonwealth of Virginia determined that the complaint filed by the writer babyz0z0 was unfounded. Our investigation came to the same conclusion. Mrs. Jo has been with the school for over twenty years and is loved and repected by the parents, teachers, her colleagues and most, importantly, the children. She is known for her compassion, kind nature, understanding and professionalism. Everyone here at Kaye Kare deeply cares for the children left in our trust and provides a safe and nurturing environment and strives to make it a happy and educational experience. Our goal is that all children and their parents and guardians have a positive experience with our center and everyone here is dedicated to that goal. We wish it was different, but unfortunately, we believe that babyz0z0's experience for herself and her child was unique to their circumstances and wish her and her child much success at their chosen center. more

Amazing Experiences 5/18/2011

I was surprised to find a bad review about Kaye Kare. I have sent 4 of my kids to this daycare, all of which went through Ms. Jo's class. In regards to the other comment that was found I would like to say that I never saw any of that. In fact as my kids aged up through Kaye Kare I told them they would have to go on to another teacher. I have two daughters who were absolutley heart broken they did not get to be in her class the following year. When hearing that Ms. Jo was yelling at the kids as previously stated in the other comment I was shocked. Ms. Jo has one of the most loving and caring personalities that I know. She treats the kids with respect and she teaches them right from wrong in a professional manner. I do not know what the other person saw but from all the years my kids spent at the daycare were amazing and enjoyable. My kids still ask to go back in the summers for their summer camp program. Kaye Kare was an amazing and unforgettable experience for my kids. more

Horrible experience. Parents be warned! 5/10/2011

Ever since my son was 2 I told him about preschool and how much fun it would be to be with other kids and learn. I got him all excited and told him when he turns 3 he would be able to go to preschool with other boys and girls. The time came and my son turned 3. I visited a few schools in my area and found Kaye Kare and decided to bring him with me to make sure he?s comfortable. He got all excited and finally decided to enroll my son at Kaye Kare. I walked him inside and he sat down right away and waved goodbye to me. When I picked him up that first day, he cried as soon as he saw our car. I was told that was normal and thought it really was. During the first week, my mom, my dad and I saw how Ms. Jo talked, yelled and screamed at preschool kids! I?m talking about 2-4 year old children. She did would have her arms crossed to her chest while standing while yelling and giving instructions to these poor kids, in front of other kids, parents and co-teachers. She was not interacting with the kids as the other teachers. I was told she had 20 years of experience and since I?m not a teacher I thought this was OK but I had my guts telling me already it wasn?t. For 3 weeks that my child was there my son will cry every morning begging me not to bring him to school and will cry every time we pick him up. He normally tells me everything he did for the day but these dreadful 3 weeks he was just sad and quiet all the time. I thought this was unusual as my son is usually playful and happy and loves to talk. He never told me why he doesn?t not like school but he would just tell me ?I don?t like school mommy.? This broke my heart. Ms. Jo should NOT be teaching preschool kids. Her ways and mannerisms were very unfriendly. I thought with these kids you should be encouraging them to go to school using positive motivation and I can see why my son and all the other kids were afraid of her. I became concerned that Ms. Jo was ruining my child?s first experience with school. I tried talking to someone at the school but the owner was on vacation and so I had asked Ms. Jo to put him in another class, I was so surprised on what she had said to my mom! She said ?it doesn?t matter which teacher handles him, if he doesn?t like he wouldn?t?, what kind of response was that? I had already paid for 1 week and I didn?t care if that was a Tuesday, I pulled him out of that school immediately. I talked to someone about this but they didn?t seem too concerned, the other director told me ?you gotta do what you gotta do?, I found this disturbing and unsettling. I eventually found a new preschool and visited with the teachers. We had to tell him he is going to a ?play house? and not a ?school? because he is traumatized with this word and associates it with mean teachers. He already loves his new preschool and his new teacher on his 3rd day! I am extremely appreciative of the teachers he has now. They all seem to really enjoy teaching the kids. As for Kaye Kare, I am shocked and appalled at the lack of care they have for these children by employing Ms. Jo. Preschool is the foundation of their education and their first experience of what school will be like. It is this experience that will shape their mentality of school for the next 13 years. I urge anyone that is considering to enroll their child to look elsewhere. The blame does not solely rely on the teacher, Ms. Jo but rather the whole facility as no one seemed to care about anything other than getting their payment for the week. If you want your child to learn and blossom socially and educationally you should definitely look at any other school other than Kaye Kare. I don?t do reviews normally but as a concerned parent I wouldn?t want anybody else to experience what me and child had. more
