We switched my Mom to a geriatric physician thinking that she would get better care from someone who understands and is knowledgable about senior citizens health isssues. That has not been the case. The doctor totally missed the fact that my Mom's breathing difficulties were being caused by congestive heart failture. She did not recommend that she have tests done to check her heart. She eventually ended up having quadruple heart bypass surgery and we discovered also that she had heart attack, also undiagnosed by this doctor. She also did not seem concerned that her weight was causing stress to her heart and did not advise that she be put on a strict diet. Her bedside manner needs improvement too. She has little patience with the elderly and seems to be annoyed by comments or questions that are asked. She should not be a geriatric doctor if she does not have the patience required.
