Review content:
Yes, Hunan Garden is a restaurant that doesn't have many pretenses. I have been occasionally going there since the early 1990s. It offers good food served by good people--a few of the staff have been there since I began eating there. The drinks are strong and they still serve a Blue Hawaiian from a ceramic buddha with a straw sticking out from his belly button. The restaurant area is clean and has been updated a bit in the last few years with large red banners with Chinese characters, e.g., good fortune, happiness, etc. I really enjoy the mu shu pork and although mu shu chicken is'nt on the menu, the kitchen will make it anyway. The place is great for families. The bar, from what I heard, seems to be a lively place. As others have said, the lunch buffet is great and is well attended by downtown office workers. If you're looking for upscale elegance, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a good tummy-filling Chinese dinner, then look no further.
Pros: big portions, good service, good drinks,
Cons: noise from bar can be too loud
