Review content:
Today (May 15), I was shopping with my preteen daughter in this store for very specific and fun teacher gifts and a special birthday gift. We have been in this store before and know that it sells unique items. We made a special trip, driving 30 minutes to the store. I had recommended this shop to friends before, and, until today, would have continued to do so.
While we were there, my daughter was looking at some scarves. She unfolded a couple to see what they looked like. She was within my eyesight and my ear shot. A sales person approached her and said, ""If you are going to play with those, the least you could do is fold them back up the way you found them. Go the extra mile.""
Go the extra mile??????
My daughter quickly put the scarf back and walked five steps over to me with tears in her eyes.
To be certain, I asked my daughter if she had just waded them up when she put them back. She said that she was not playing with them and had tried to fold it the way we fold towels at home.
I spoke with the sales clerk about the issue, and apologized if we had caused her stress in looking at the scarves. She offered a forced smile, and stated, ""All I did was ask her to fold them when she put them back"", as if I could not hear what was said or my daughter could forget such a curt rebuke.
It was completely unnecessary, unduly harsh, and eliminated our purchases today and in the future. No amount of unique and upscale merchandise is worth basic disregard and seething annoyance toward the customers.
