I was turned on to Uncle Darrows years ago when they were basically a take-out located in an old taco stand in mid-LA on Venice. A few years ago they opened a new location in the Marina area. The very first time I went to Uncle Darrows I was blown away by everything I ate, and I sampled many many items. Now years later I continue to enjoy every bite of everything I order. The gumbo is superb, the shrimp poor boy sandwich is perfect, and the catfish is to die for. The beignets are divine. The cajun suppers are the way to go. If you are a first timer, you will be offered samples of many items. The staff is helpful, friendly and aims to please. The family atmosphere extends to each and every guest they have, and their philosophy is we are all part of the human family. I cannot tell you what a wonderful experience it is to go to Uncle Darrow's time and again. If you like real Louisiana home cooking, head to Uncle Darrow's, you will not be disappointed.
