I went to the SPCA to get a voucher to get my dog neutered. I called Acadian for an appointment. I went in and the man at the desk(don't know his name but I think he's the doctor there)gave me info to fill out. One page was a choice to have dissolvable stitches(which is included in the $20 voucher fee)or to have stainless steel stitches for an extra $25. It said they recommend stainless b/c some dogs lick the dissolvable within a day and leaves them with an open wound which has to be fixed. It was a hard decision so I called my husband. He said he it wasn?t a big deal and if we saw the dog licking them we could put gauze on it. I also thought about my mom who has 2 of my dogs litter mates and had no problem with stitches. I circled to reject stainless and get dissolvable. I brought it back to the man at the desk. He looked at them and said he was going to reject the surgery, which he has the right to do. He said that I wasn't taking him seriously and I wasn't going to get the antibiotics or the pain meds either, so he would not do it. He said he never uses dissolvable in his practice and the SPCA shouldn't make the vets. I told him he should of told me his policy when I called, and that he should of spoken to me about it before he rejected us. He raised his voice to say that other vets don't tell about stitch complications and don't give antibiotics or pain meds. I thanked him and I was tearing up b/c it was obvious he thought I was an idiot and bad owner. He(now being very frustrated/excited and still having a raised voice)asked why I was upset. I said just b/c I wanted dissolvable didn't mean I wasn't going to buy meds needed for my dog. I said it seems like he thought I didn?t want the best for my dog. He said I didn't. At this point I was very upset and I said ok, I'm leaving and proceeded to walk out. He yelled as I walked out that I could take my dog somewhere else who is not going to do a good job. Pros: none really Cons: customer serive is horrible
