Review content:
The store was in business for a long time, so I decided to try their repair service when my Sony STR-DG2100 receiver had a ""Protector Error"" problem and cannot be cleared just slightly after the two year warranty. And Paul's TV is the closest Sony authorized repair shop in my area. I like my receiver so I decided to get it repaired instead of buying a new one although a new receiver cost not much more than the repair cost.
The repair cost was $90 which was fair, the store had 90 days warranty only if brought all my wires and speakers to test at the store which was impossible in my case since all my wires are inside the walls. I carefully checked there were no shorts in the wires and made sure that the impedance of the speakers was good. Then I hooked it up and tested the channels one by one. After I hooked everything up, it ran about 30min then the same problems happened. So I brought it back to repair again, and paid another $90 since I did not bring my speakers and wires at the first time.
After I got it repaired this time, I hooked up my 20 year old receiver first and let it run for 3 hours before I hooked the repaired unit up. Just to make sure the problems were not the wires or speakers, I watched a movie for about 2 hours THEN the problem popped up again!
So I called the store and asked if I can talk to the technician since I believed there were more problems in the unit than just replacing the burned output transistors which the tech did.
THEN THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED: THE LADY WHO PICKED UP THE PHONE AND CHECKED THE REPAIR HISTORY DID NOT ALLOW ME TO SPEAK TO THE TECH AND JUST YELLED ""YOUR WIRES WERE SHORT "" THEN HANG UP THE PHONE!
I just cannot believe my ears!!! How can they still in business with this kind of attitude? I guess it is because there was no competition (for the repair business) in this area?
I don't want to waste my time and money (I wasted three weeks and $190+ for nothing) any more, so I bought a new YAMAHA RX-A700 and hooked up everything back. It ran great for two weeks now!
SO GOOD LUCK IF YOU STILL WANT TO DEAL WITH THEM!
