I want to thank those of you who posted your experiences with RentMax. I just called them this morning in response to an ad for a rental house that sounded too good to be true. The guy who answered the phone told me that that house had already been rented, but if I would come by their offices and pay $59 IN CASH, that they could find me several properties in my price range that meet all my needs. He of course wouldn't offer me any properties over the phone.
