I don't eat out in NJ that often so I can't compare what the other Mexican restaurants in the area are like. Philly has numerous spots I'd recommend over La Esperanza but that's more because of the quality of food in the city than it is a comment on La Esperanza not being good. It's a perfectly fine eatery with a nice clean presentation and good service. The food isn't cheap but it's reasonable, and the quality is pretty good. The menu felt a bit limited to me, I would have liked more options with my burritos, and some hot sauces would have been nice. The guacamole was mediocre but I enjoyed the main course. I would not go out of my way to return to Esperanza but I also wouldn't protest if someone else wanted to take me.
