I returned to San Francisco this holiday season for the first time in a couple years and a visit to the new Cliff House was on the list...WOW... WHAT A FACELIFT! I actually returned for a second time! Our first visit my host had made reservations in SUTROS', so we were promptly whisked away to our table for a sumptuous meal accompanied by an impressive, mostly Californian wine list. All at the table were pleased with our fare. Beautiful views all around... My second visit, a friend and I dropped by Sutros' again in hopes to get in but alas, were booked for the evening. Luckily, we were directed to the bar and lounge where the views are just as good and full menu is offered WITH NO WAIT... We were very impressed by the knowlewdge and proffesionalism of the two bartenders working, non-pretentious and a pleasure to chat with. Looking forward to my next visit when I return to town.
Pros: great food, great views, friendly/non-pretentious service
Cons: the wait without a reservation, avoid by dining at the bar...
