After a 30+ year break from riding, I decided to take it back up again. I had ridden for 18 years when I was young, so I thought - no problem - this must be like riding a bike! Well, was I in for a surprise! I found HHF and brought my new mare, Bella, to the barn. Besides choosing to take up riding again, going to HHF was the best decision I could have made! Bella settled in instantly, due to the care and consideration given her by the highly competent HHF staff. They made sure she adapted to her new surroundings and her new stablemates. So - surprise! I fell off the first week I started riding and broke several bones in my back (I'm mostly better now). It was a fluke accident that would never have happened if I was paying attention. Nevertheless, it DID happen...and I had a rude awakening. I knew I didn't want to give up my dream of riding again, so I did what I should have done in the first place - started taking lessons with the barn's owner, Tricia. She knew how far I had to go, even though I knew how to ride, and took great care with my emotional and physical return to riding. She's the best, and I would recommend her to anyone at any stage of their riding career. She has great patience and can explain everything from the very basics to advanced moves in totally understandable ways. She's the greatest! Tricia and Kerri have worked together to train both me and Bella (in training rides and longe sessions) to become better riding partners. They have given me such confidence to try new things and do a better job at those things I can already do. That's exactly what I need at this stage of my riding career. Two other things I love about HHF - the comaraderie between riders of all ages, and the commitment of both the staff and the riders to the best care and treatment of their horses and of each other. Such a great place!
