Review content:
This place is awful. I had read a lot of good reviews about how the food is amazing and ""san francisco style,"" and since I live in San Francisco and eat out there a lot, I had high expectations. Sadly, they were quickly squashed. The food was sub-par and exorbitantly overpriced for the quality. I ordered the duck, which was supposed to be ""citrus and lavender scented,"" which it was not. Trust me, lavender is one of my favorite flavors, and there was no lavender in this dish. The potato and parsnip fritter was tasteless - it tasted simply like deep fried starch. No seasoning, not even salt. It was memorable only for its blandness. The sauce a l'orange was simply a brown sauce with no flavor. The lavender and citrus salad was a few sprigs of frisee lettuce and a few microscopic pieces of orange. Again, no lavender. Even the bread that they served was sub-par!. It was cold and hard - it was clear that it had been sitting out for a while. The only good thing I can say was that my duck was reasonably tender. Pros: There was one nice bartender who seemed to like me. Cons: The food, the wine list, the prices... basically everything else.
