Don't let the name The Angry Chair intimidate you! The place itself has a nice metal flair, especially with the decor in the new location, but the atmosphere inside is nothing except for totally laid back. You can plug your own iPod into the speakers and listen to whatever you want during your haircut, first of all, so don't be deterred by the idea that you might have to listen to metal the whole time if you don't like it! I only had a vague idea of what I wanted done to my hair when I went in. That's where Dave came in. As soon as I started talking to him I could tell that he saw the potential in my head, and wanted me to leave looking my absolute best. Like it wasn't just about a haircut for him, like because I wanted something different, original, challenging, he saw the opportunity to create a work of art. I came in after not having a haircut for close to half a year and told Dave that I wanted to look like a hyena. Even though I was a half hour late, he was nice enough to start right away- He loved the idea of hyenahair an' immediately got out his laptop and started looking at pictures online with me so we could figure out what would really work with my hair. Before he actually did any work on it, we talked out exactly what I wanted so we both knew what we were getting into. Of important note is when he was cutting my hair initially, I wanted it really short on the sides and the back, but he didn't want to use the clippers, he instead started to cut the entirity of my head freehand, with a pair of scissors. I asked him why and his response, to me, summed up the way that he cuts hair. ""When I use the clippers, everything looks a little bit too clean, like military style. It's just kinda' impersonal."" This struck me pretty hard, that this guy would put in the extra effort to make sure that this cut was as original, as perfectly handcrafted as it could possibly get. And I was even more amazed when he got it down to the same length as if he had clipped it-- And he was right, it looked a lot more natural that way! Dave poured himself into his work when he was doing my cut, and while I had dye sitting in I saw him doing the same to the rest of the customers. He was even talking to everyone with GENUINE interest, not just droning mundane questions like you're usually subjected to at hair ""salons."" Seriously, if you sit down here for a haircut you're going to have a good time if you're the sort of person who likes to meet interesting people, and ESPECIALLY if you like to laugh. Waiting for the dye to sit in wasn't even a bore, either. They've got the smallest full-grown cat I've ever seen, along with toys you can use to make it spaz out- My hair came out AMAZING. I don't know what's better, how little kids at the mall tell me that my hair looks awesome, or how their mothers insistently pull them away when they notice they're talking to me! It's been three weeks and the dye job has stayed perfect, and I still get compliments on it every si
