Just returned to the equine world after a 4 1/2 year break. Today I went to Judy's (Franklin location) with my mother, though a friend of mine told me not to go. I went in and was pleasantly surprised! I was wearing a pair of OLD kerrits and ugg boots. I didn't feel as though I was being judged at all. The saleslady (I think her name was katherine?) was very helpful. She got up on a ladder and helped me find my perfect helmet size (her first pick for me was only 1/8th off)! It was a Charles Owen (out of my price range this quarter)...I didn't feel pressured to buy it at all. Bought a stock tie for an upcoming hunt and a pair of ariat gloves. Left the store and , after having lunch, I realized I'd bought a size 6 glove instead of 8. Went back to see about exchanging, no problem at all. They ended up not having the ariats in my size, so I bought a less expensive pair. She was more than happy to credit the difference to my card. I left with a ""Thanks, Maggie! Have a great day!"" People often perceive equestrians as stand-offish... it is a misunderstanding. I'd think most of you would know this, as you may have experienced it yourself! If you're a beginner, let them know! They'll help you. If you don't say much, they probably just assume you know what you need, and are trying to get back to the barn ASAP. I will shop here from now on! Pros: Kind & Knowledgable staff, Organized Cons: The cat inside (hate them). Wish they had a dog, or mini horse : )
