Editorial review from Citysearch 9/8/2013

I've been a Judy's customer for over 10 years now... As a professional I've sent tons of customers to her for knowledgable help with tack and saddle purchases even from our Midwest location via phone... Judy has always been more than pleasant and helped my customers and myself find the custom or stock items we've needed and never over sold or cheated us... Whatever has gone on is certainly no reflection of the time and honest knowledge she's shared with us! Keep your head up and keep on horsing! more

Judy's Owner Indicted for Saddle Theft at HITS March 2012 4/21/2012

My experience: I consigned two items at Judy's Tack Shop. I never heard anything for months. I assumed my items never sold and returned to pick them up. Surprise! Allegedly, my boots had been sold for an undetermined time, but no one knew where the sale records were. Worse, my saddle had been stripped of its fittings and no one knew where my stirrups and leathers were. It took three visits to wrestle a check for my boots and a promise to replace my fittings. I gave up after receiving only the stirrups. I was told they would have to order my leathers, but I never heard from the shop again. Now I see this about her alleged involvement in stealing saddles: wwwdotratemyhorseprodotcom/equine-court/criminal-matters/state-v-judy-mielenz.aspx I was new to the area at the time and thought my incident was an isolated one and attributed it to disorganized records and indifferent customer service. But if the indictment is true, SHAME ON YOU JUDY FOR BEING A DISHONEST THIEF! more

Great, functional tack shop! 3/16/2010

I went in on my way out of town after a business trip. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. I was able to converse with them in an intelligent manner and not feel like the person was ?just there for the job?. They have a good selection of quality gear without too much of the unnecessary gifty type of stuff. I?d love to have them closer to my home. Pros: knowledgeable staff with a functional inventory Cons: 300 miles from my home, lol more

Great Customer Service 9/7/2009

I went in looking for a new schooling helmet. They had one in my size and I bought it even though it wasn't quite what I wanted. I did some research when I got home and found out the it was almost 30 dollars cheaper at Tractor Supply. When I returned it, they took it back no questions asked. About a week later I got a call saying they had seen my review and found out that they had priced the helmet wrong. They apologized and offered me a discount on my next visit. Wow! Above and beyond. Thanks ladies! They seemed to have a decent selection of tack and show clothes but not so much for schooling. Pros: Local, Return Policy, Customer Service Cons: Limited Selection more

Judy's in Franklin is awesome!!! 7/14/2009

My daughter rides. I never have so I don't know much about what she needs. The employees at Judy's are VERY helpful. Even their customers offer helpful suggestions. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. They have never led us in the wrong direction whether we are buying a saddle (our second) or chaps or socks. Highly reccommended!!! Pros: The best service - knowledgeable employees more

Excellent Hunter-Jumper Accoutrements in Tennesee Walker Country 2/19/2009

Just returned to the equine world after a 4 1/2 year break. Today I went to Judy's (Franklin location) with my mother, though a friend of mine told me not to go. I went in and was pleasantly surprised! I was wearing a pair of OLD kerrits and ugg boots. I didn't feel as though I was being judged at all. The saleslady (I think her name was katherine?) was very helpful. She got up on a ladder and helped me find my perfect helmet size (her first pick for me was only 1/8th off)! It was a Charles Owen (out of my price range this quarter)...I didn't feel pressured to buy it at all. Bought a stock tie for an upcoming hunt and a pair of ariat gloves. Left the store and , after having lunch, I realized I'd bought a size 6 glove instead of 8. Went back to see about exchanging, no problem at all. They ended up not having the ariats in my size, so I bought a less expensive pair. She was more than happy to credit the difference to my card. I left with a ""Thanks, Maggie! Have a great day!"" People often perceive equestrians as stand-offish... it is a misunderstanding. I'd think most of you would know this, as you may have experienced it yourself! If you're a beginner, let them know! They'll help you. If you don't say much, they probably just assume you know what you need, and are trying to get back to the barn ASAP. I will shop here from now on! Pros: Kind & Knowledgable staff, Organized Cons: The cat inside (hate them). Wish they had a dog, or mini horse : ) more

Very Helpful! 2/17/2009

I just wanted to write about my experience with Judy's Tack Shop. I've been to the one in Germantown and the help was amazing. The first time I went I was buying a show jacket, boots, and new breeches and they helped me find the perfect size and style i needed. The other times I have been were just as great. Maybe they were having an off day when you guys went. I don't know. But one thing I do know is that the Germantown employees are great. They're helpful and very friendly; they seem to really know what they're talking about. Actually, we usually end up in conversation for a good 15 - 20 minutes. If someone were to ask me where a good tack shop is, I would definitely recommend Judy's Tack Shop. Pros: great staff, helpful, anything and everything you need, spacious Cons: none come to mind more

I am the owner of Judy's Tack Shop 1/29/2009

First of all I wish to apologize to my customers for some of the malicious remarks you have read about my employees. more

People need second chances !!!! 1/28/2009

I have been in this store many times although I have had some different experiences I have never had an experenice where I would not return. Many of the reviews that people are writting act like you have never had a bad day or that you are perfect. This store has great inventory and you can always find what you need or they usual can order it for you. I know that I have had a bad day at work and that I am not perfect nor will I ever be and since they are the only one in town maybe we should support them and give them the benifit of the doubt. In tought times people react different and maybe we all need to come together. Pros: products in stock, great inventory more

A great place for any rider! 12/22/2008

I am new to riding and really do not know what I am doing. The staff was very helpful and really went above and beyond to give me tips and help me find the right gear for my needs. I could not have asked for a better experience. I am not sure what happened with some of the other reviews for this store because I have nothing but positive things to say. Pros: Friendly staff, great selection more

Fantastic tack shop with unique items 12/22/2008

I have had great experiences with Judy's Tack Shop! Kathryn is who I always ask for as she has been extremely helpful. She continues to offer her advice readily. I wish that Judy's would open a location closer to my area! It's a treat to go to the Brownland shows and visit the tack shop because I always tend to find items I don't see in the catalogs or at other tack shops. Keep up the good work Judy's Tack / Kathryn too!!! Pros: Knowledgeable, friendly staff... Great items you can't find elsewhere... more

EVERYTHING YOU EVER NEED!!!! 12/10/2008

My trip to Judy's was an adventure to say the least... Catherine and Angel were friendly and knowledgeable, and helped me to keep within my spending limits. The manager Mandy was pushy and loud, completely out of her element! Over all my visit was enjoyable. Pros: well stocked, knowledgable staff more

Judy's Tack Shop 9/8/2008

I will be going today for the first time, so I'll give my review after my trip to Franklin, But I had to say that adb3913s comments are pathetic if gossiping is the reason they go to this store, how ridiculous are you? Pros: Don't know yet Cons: Gossiping I assume more

BEST tack shop anywhere 9/13/2007

Judy's is hands down my favorite place to buy horsey stuff. They have everything in all sorts of price ranges and I love how big it is; it doesn't feel cramped at all like most tack stores. My husband is in business school, so I am on a major budget and the salespeople still treat me like royalty. One spent at least 30 minutes measuring me for boots and helping me decide what I really needed and what I didn't. Other times I go in I am free to browse without feeling pressure and they are there when you need them. I'd much rather have the laidback atmosphere than feel pressured to buy things, because we all know anything horse-related isn't cheap! Well worth the scenic drive from downtown Nashville. Pros: Atmosphere, selection, convenient hours Cons: Can't think of any more

Great experience 10/11/2006

I recently decided to return to my childhood love of horseback riding. I went to Judy's to buy the requisite boots etc. I had a totally different experience than did the critical reviewer(s). The sales people could not have been more helpful, knowledgeable or personable. Plus, the store is very neat (this is not always the case in my experience of tack shops) and well-stocked. They have a wide range of styles and prices. Pros: Comprehensive merchandise; friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff more

Exceptional service, friendly atmosphere! 9/9/2006

I am fairly new to this area and Judy's came highly reccomended to me while attending a local equestrian event. I was impressed by the knowledge of the sales ladies, charmed by the shop kitten, and made to feel completely at home! The shop atmosphere is really comfortable, they even have a couch. I will say that I was shocked by the previous review left by an unsatisfied customer. I think they may have misunderstood their relaxed country charm, it's not a common commodity these days. I found it to be a breath of fresh air, a ""come on in and make yourself at home"" mentality. I am thinking the next time I visit, I'll bring my lunch and catch up on the local on dit! Bravo ladies, don't change a thing. Pros: Largest tack shop around more

acted very stuck up and annoyed. 8/23/2006

There are better prices at other tack shops I've been to, and the people here just sat around gossiping and never even asked me if i needed help. When I did ask a question, the sales woman acted very bothered. Also, there were two precious young girls in front of me in line, and after the woman asked them where they rode she started bad talking their barn to them. They both looked very uncomfortable and left upset. Even if they were adults it would not have been appropriate to do so, and especially not since they were children. Cons: horrible sales people more

Snotty service at best! 7/10/2006

I recently moved from Atlanta to Nashville and was looking for a tack shop I could spend my fun money on. The people working at the store were eating their lunch in front of everyone and gossiping instead of asking me if I needed help for about the 10-15 minutes I was in the store. Pros: only tack shop around Cons: high price, no service more
