Review content:
Caffe Carrerra is just what one hopes for in a little neighborhood restaurant but what you don't get. The owner is always surly and unaccommodating. He makes a point to invite special food requests but will pan you for them. If you are a party of two, you are penalized by being put at a tiny table across from the kitchen in the only narrow, single-file walkway between the front door and back bathroom. The owner makes clear that he regards a party of two to be a low-profit, nuisance factor and won't even take reservations for two. He will monitor your conversation and interject when he wants; and not in a pleasant way. With that in mind, having not been there in years, we opted for a take-out meal hoping to avoid all that. But, it was surprisingly very poorly packaged. Soup was put in a Styrofoam soda container, like a take-out Diet Coke at McDonald's, that leaked over everything. And, true to form, the owner wasn't partial to holding down the garlic on one dish and he sure let us know as we placed the take-out order over the phone.
