I lived in the apartments on St Paul Street in Mt Vernon, 710 to be exact. I was only there for a short time but while I was there EVERY tenant in the entire place had a problem with bedbugs. I understand that bedbugs are a problem in the city, especially now - it's bad, but it is the responsibility of the owner of the building to ensure that the problem is fixed before they rent a unit out to UNKNOWING individuals.
They are so worried about money and so not interested in keeping their tenants happy that when we moved out, because our apartment was INFESTED when we moved in, after only a few months - American Management had the audacity to try to get out us in less than two weeks so they could get someone else in. They had someone come out and spray the apartment once and told us that any additional sprays would be at our own expense. The bedbugs were in the ceiling of that place, and the entire building needs to be completely fumigated. Unfortunately for the unknowing new tenant, the problem is not fixed. We had to get rid of our mattress, box spring, couch, and all of our books.
These are slum lords by definition. Avoid at all cost. I have also reported them to the better business bureau.
