We stayed at Piilani Gardens, leaving in August 2011 to return to California. Most well-kept garden apartments I've ever experienced, with inspiring island landscaping. Fellow residents and we had ample privacy because of the building layouts and the landscaping. All very beautiful and quiet, and quite safe feeling. I attribute some of these positives to two simple features: 1. the frequent physical presence of the managing owner on the premises, assuring attention to details and being familiar with the tenants personally; and 2. the interesting, and refreshing, structure of the units that include the option to lock the front door by a recessed screened security gate that allows complete breeze air flow through the unit, visual view of the grounds and hearing of all sounds in the immediate vicinity -- perfect for enjoying the island beauty while providing a neighborhood feel (within a few days of arriving I had already met and chatted friendily with quite a few neighbors), and which incidentally self-monitors the property night and day, and whether the resident is in or away from the apartment.
Everything clean and functional, and the management immediately attending to any of the few requests we made for equipment adjustments.
Location perfect: shopping, banking, restaurants, beach all either across the street or within 3 blocks. The new bike path coming in across the street will be an added plus.
