Remember the TV Show" Cheers"? Well I think Caffe Italia in Coral Gables is the Italian version of Cheers. I have been dining there for 20 years and also frequently take business guests to lunch. . The reason is simple, it serves the best home made Italian food in Miami-Dade County. The pasta, the marinara sauce and the incredibly tasty garlic rolls are all home made. The staff has been around for years and provides a homelike atnosphere. Amongst my favorite dishes are the meat lasagne, the bass a la francaise, the chicken milanesa napolitana and the churrasco steak, as good as any I have eaten in a Steak House for a lot lower price. Last night I decided to try the spaghetti carbonara for the first time, it was so good that I have added it to my list of favorites. My compliments to the owners who have been in business almost 25 years.
