Review content:
First of all, I have to address all of the negative comments below. I have NO IDEA what grooming shop these people have gone to, but it can't possibly be the Pride 'n' Joy that I've been taking ALL of my dogs to for the past 14 years. We started taking our dogs to Pride 'n' Joy when it was located next to Barone's, in the strip next to Taco Bell (which has since been bulldozed). They moved up the street a few years ago and we've supported them since. Sure, other fancier places have moved into the neighborhood, but I'm a loyalist. They have always done well by me and I will reward EXEMPLARY service with my loyalty. There is a low turnover on groomers at the Sherman Oaks shop, which says to me that they're doing something right. We've had a house full of dogs over the past decade and a half and all of them have been to Pride 'n' Joy at one point or another. From our Great Dane to our Shepard / Chow to our terriers, they've always come out looking great and feeling clean and happy. Even our ""difficult"" chihuahua / doxie mix gets his nails cut there without a fuss. Jose is gentle with him, and he leaves without even noticing that he just had a pedicure. Not only are their grooming services TOP RATE, but the people are also full of heart. When I recently adopted a new dog from the Lancaster shelter, Jose, the manager, not only refused to groom her (because she was too thin), but he gave us some free puppy food because the poor thing was starving. Since he couldn't bathe her, he wiped her down gently with some hand wipes and clipped her nails, GRATIS. Once she is at her optimal weight, we're bringing her in for her first official groom. The shop in Sherman Oaks also sells top-quality dog foods, and is knowledgeable about the foods that they sell. Another plus in my book. And also another reason why I'd buy my dog food here and not at a store like Petco. I also don't know what the ""they don't have any windows"" comment is about. There is a window DIRECTLY BEHIND THE CASH REGISTER looking straight into the grooming room. Plus, you can bring your dogs straight into the back door, right into the thick of the holding area. You can watch your dogs while they're being groomed - and they'd even welcome you to sit with them if they were having problems, or were scared. I really feel a need to defend these negative comments (in fact, its making my blood boil a bit), because this is a place full of love and EXPERIENCED groomers. I'm just perplexed by the negative reviews. Makes me wonder if they're planted by a disgruntled ex-employee or something. Seriously, it's the only way I can imagine someone saying something negative about this place. So if you live in the Sherman Oaks area, I urge you to SHOP LOCAL, and support your local area businesses. Pride 'n' Joy gets two-paws up from this household! I wouldn't go anywhere else. And if you want to talk to me personally, I urge you to private mail me.
