Review content:
I consider myself an amazing cook which makes me very difficult to please, especially when it comes to Italian cuisine. Let me tell you: This place is freakin' AMAZING! From the atmosphere to the service to the presentation to the dessert, Joe's far exceeded my every expectation! The basket of bread arrived 2 seconds after my butt hit the chair and less than 5 seconds later a plate of quality flavorful olive oil perfectly blended with classic Italian spices sat right next to it. The salad was just the right size and unlike other restaurants doesn't come 'gunked up' with unrecognizable greens that look as if they were just pulled from an abandoned and overgrown lot. When my server asked if I wanted House Italian or Ranch dressing (the only 2 choices) I worried just a bit, but went with Ranch, which was amazing! As for the amount: It wasn't too much, wasn't too little, but just right. I ordered the 'house speciality' Ravioli Rose' (beef ravioli with a tomato cream sauce). My ONLY complaint (and this is a stretch) is the ravioli was a touch overdone, but in no way so overdone I couldn't eat it due to a mush factor. I prefer more aldente' pasta. Based on the quality service I received, I have no doubt if I'd specified aldente' the staff would have moved heaven and earth to make that happen. For dessert I went with a classic cannoli which can be a crap-shoot. Too often even the most 'classic' Italian restaurants make cannoli very heavy and sweet, which traditionally it should never be. True cannoli is light & delicate; the perfect ending to a hearty meal. Joe's does NOT disappoint! My server made the cannoli cake sound so amazing I had to get a piece to go. Okay, this ain't your Mama's piece of cake! They brought me a freakin' HUNK of cake! As for the taste of that hunk: As good if not better than the cannoli! ""Mama"" even came out from the kitchen wearing an apron, enormous smile, sporting a twinkle in her eye and a genuine laugh in her chest. You immediately get the sense this is a woman who has nursed many a cold, bandaged many a scraped knee and bounced many a grandchild on her lap. Mama even went so far as to dance and clap a bit for the few remaining customers during this Thursday lunch hour (we arrived at 1:00 & left about 3:00). From start to finish Joe's Italian lives up to every claim of authentic Italian fare. I will absolutely be returning, for the food, the family atmosphere and the genuine good times!
