I had a 250 GB external drive in NTFS format which had a bunch of stuff I saved on it over a 5 year period. I had it connected to an iMac and was about to install Mac OS 9 on it. I didn't realize I had selected the external drive to install the OS.... Oops!! So now I had the drive reformatted to whatever filesystem Mac OS 9 uses, and some of the data was overwritten by the new OS files.
I tried to get data back with GetDataBack (haha), and was able to save a lot of the files that it found. But I was disappointed that the most important stuff to me, that is, photos and music - a lot of it was missing, I only got like 50 photos and about 100 tracks, out of THOUSANDS. So I wanted to make another attempt.
I took the drive to Secure Data Recovery Services, and they worked on it for a few days. It was amazing what they did, and how they did it I don't know, but they managed to recover like 75% of the photos and 50% of the music! They also managed to recover some other items that I didn't ask for.
