I'll keep this short. Never go to a Suntrust Bank local branch and tell them you'd like to open a savings account to put some upcoming inheritance funds into. I tried to open a savings account at two separate branches on Nolensville Road today and before I knew it, at both branches they were ""salivating"" to get me to speak with their investment advisor. I told them once I have all my inheritance money in my savings account, I'll be transferring 90% into an investment firm. They told me I should put part of it into one of their annuities. I spoke with an IRS representative on the phone later about a tax issue. He told me the bank would probably take my money in an annuity and pool it with money from other sources and invest it into hedge funds for big profits while paying me very little. I agreed.
