After asking around for recommendations from friends and getting nowhere, I decided to bite the bullet and pay extra for an insured maid service. It was worth every penny. Our cleaner showed up on time, was completely lovely and professional and stayed a full five hours, cleaning non-stop in our two bedroom apartment. Usually when I come home after a housekeeper's been there I find little things that have been skipped over or missed, but not so here. Every surface was scrubbed down, every glass spotless and put away, every random splotch on the floor erased. I only call for service once every few months when I really need a good floor-to-ceiling scrub-down, because it does cost more, but it's so, so worth it?they bring their own supplies, the people are professional and easy to deal with, and it's simple to book (you just sign in, click the time and day you want, and they send a confirmation e-mail). Great.
